Behind the build.

Guide Architecture provided full architectural and interior design services for the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) of the Heart Institute in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Purpose-built for outpatient cardiovascular care, the project modernizes procedure and recovery environments to support advanced cardiac interventions while maintaining continuous operations within an active clinical setting. The design required meticulous phasing, strict infection-control protocols, and coordinated tie-ins to existing building systems to ensure uninterrupted patient care. The ASC was designed in full compliance with New Mexico Department of Health licensing requirements for ambulatory surgical facilities, CMS Conditions for Coverage, applicable FGI Guidelines for outpatient surgical facilities, and relevant NFPA life safety standards. Early and ongoing engagement with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) streamlined approvals, reduced late-stage revisions, and supported a smooth path to licensure and occupancy.

Guide Architecture collaborated closely with the Heart Institute’s leadership, clinical teams, and consultants to deliver a highly functional, code-compliant, and patient-focused cardiovascular environment that reflects the practice’s commitment to excellence in outpatient surgical care.
