Behind the build.
Guide Architecture provided full architectural and interior design services for the Woodland Springs Psychiatric Hospital, a 96-bed behavioral health facility designed to serve adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations in a secure and restorative environment. The program includes inpatient treatment units, an electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) suite, an outpatient department, full dietary services, administrative and support spaces, and two enclosed inpatient courtyards that provide secure access to natural light and outdoor activity areas. The design emphasizes safety, efficiency, and therapeutic engagement through clear sightlines, durable ligature-resistant materials, and calming interior finishes. The two internal courtyards serve as key organizing elements, offering visual relief and outdoor access that support patient recovery and well-being.
Guide Architecture collaborated with the operator, clinical teams, and consultants to deliver a code-compliant, evidence-based behavioral health facility that balances functionality with a welcoming, human-centered design approach.
